Der Bundeskanzler will, dass Deutschland Souveränität in der Finanzpolitik an Brüssel abtritt. Mit der Billigung des Corona-Fonds der EU durch das Bundesverfassungsgericht ist der erste Schritt in diese Richtung getan. Das Vorhaben stellt eine Zäsur dar.

Eine neuartige Methode um Geld auszugeben, das man nicht hat, bietet der am Dienstag vom Bundesverfassungsgericht abgesegnete Corona-Fonds der EU. Der Bundesrechnungshof nennt den 807 Milliarden Euro umfassenden Fördertopf eine „Zäsur für die europäische Finanzarchitektur“, und tatsächlich wird eine Premiere aufgeführt:
